With the aging process, our metabolism changes dramatically. If a regimented exercise and healthy lifestyle is not followed, we acquire fat in unwanted places. Also called lipoplasty, liposuction removes deposits of excess fat and shape the beautiful body from specific areas of the body including the face, neck, arms, back, abdominal wall, and thighs through small incisions. It can remove a double chin, slim the tummy, hips and thighs, as well as shape the arms, calves and ankles.

The novel method which Dr. Sayah uses, that distinguishes him from other plastic surgeons, is liposculpture. He actually sculpts the fat beneath the skin to achieve a more aesthetic result. He sculpts a “six-pack” in the male abdominal wall corresponding to the inscriptions of the abdominal muscles. In females, he sculpts an oval “donut” around the umbilicus (belly button), and creates a subtle depression at the midline of the abdomen to develop a more youthful abdomen. :To sculpt the body versus simply removing fat is the new challenge of liposuction."
Other technical novelties which Dr. Sayah utilizes include ultrasonic-assisted liposuction (UAL) and power-assisted liposuction. These new liposuction instruments make the surgical removal of fat much more efficient. With great attention to detail and new techniques, achieving a beautiful body through liposculpture has become an achievable goal.

Ultrasonic liposuction, or UAL, is a procedure that uses high-pitched sound waves to liquefy fat in a specific area before it is removed. UAL is a type of liposuction that is primarily used for fat removal in hard-to-treat areas such as the chin, neck, cheeks, knees, calves, and ankles. It usually serves as an addition to tumescent liposuction for patients who require more precise body contouring. There are several benefits associated with UAL fat removal, including the ability to treat areas that have denser fat deposits and to remove larger volumes of fat at one time. Ultrasonic liposuction has the added advantage of tightening the skin during the process, making it a great alternative to a tummy tuck or body lifts meant to get rid of excess, baggy skin. UAL is often used after tumescent liposuction as a “fine-tuning” method, since it allows for more precision.

Because it can be difficult to move a cannula – the liposuction tube used to remove fat – back and forth through fat tissue, surgeons are not always able to effectively remove all unwanted fat. PAL, or power assisted liposuction, features devices that are easier for surgeons to control, allowing for more precise and thorough fat removal. These devices produce rapid, small vibrations to break up fat so that it can easily be suctioned out through the cannula. Back To Top of Liposuction page
